Python news

Taking a look to comp.lang.python.announce I see some interesting things:

  • Gnome-Python 2.0.2, the bindings to program in Gnome, based in PyGTK.
  • Eric 3.4, a Python editor programmed in Python (Python's standard is called IDLE, and I suppose they honor Eric Idle, a Monty Python's member).
  • IMDbPY 1.0, a package to download and manage the data from the Internet Movie Database.

Queen Mary 2 visits Gran Canaria Last time the world's largest cruiser ship was in this island, a third of the population went to greet its departure (over 200,000 people). However, I just came back from a congress on Digital Journalism in Huesca and couldn't go. Luckily, the ship arrived again for 12 hours and we went with the digital camera to take a look and some photos. You can see the result in the photo gallery. Queen Mary 2 was built in Saint-Nazaire (France), 40 minutes away from Nantes where my colleage Jean Yves lives. Let's face it: QM2 is really big, a floating city....
